Where Fashion Meets Stillness: Flowtime Yoga at Fashion Art Toronto
How Flowtime Yoga brought a moment of stillness to the Fashion Art Toronto runway, and why mindfulness belongs in creative, high-energy spaces.

A fashion show is built to hold your attention. Lights, music, movement and anticipation all pull the eye forward to the next look. That is exactly what made Fashion Art Toronto such a meaningful place to offer the opposite: a few minutes to stop, breathe and simply be present.
Flowtime Yoga founder Michelle Yeap led Canada's first runway meditation at Fashion Art Toronto, bringing stillness onto a stage usually reserved for motion. In partnership with the brand Scheduled Meditation, Michelle opened the Friday evening fashion show on Day 2 of Fashion Art Toronto 2025, the festival's 20th year of fashion and art, with a guided meditation.

Why stillness belongs in creative spaces
Creative environments run on energy. Designers, models, artists, crews and guests spend long hours switched on, often in loud, crowded rooms. Mindfulness does not compete with that energy. It gives it somewhere to settle.
A short guided meditation can do a few simple things in a space like this:
- Give people permission to pause in the middle of a busy evening.
- Bring a room full of individuals into one shared moment.
- Let the audience experience the show with more presence, rather than through a phone screen.

None of this needs a quiet studio. Breath, a clear voice and the right atmosphere can create calm almost anywhere.
The moment on the runway
Before the first look came down the runway, the room was invited to do something unexpected: close their eyes. As the opening of the evening's show, the meditation set the tone for everything that followed, giving the audience a moment to arrive, settle and be fully present for the fashion and art to come.
The moment was created in partnership with Scheduled Meditation.
PEACE TIME
The white vest, hand-lettered with PEACE TIME, became a visual signature of the moment: a simple, wearable reminder that peace can be carried into any room.
Bringing mindfulness to brand and creative events
Fashion Art Toronto showed that wellness does not have to sit off to the side of an event. It can be part of the main stage, woven into the story a brand or creative team wants to tell.
For launches, activations, fashion and art events, a Flowtime experience can be shaped around the space and the audience. That might be a guided meditation that opens a show, a calming moment between programming, or an immersive, music-led session like DJ Meditation. For larger gatherings, Flowtime also designs wellness moments for events and conferences.
